Come On, Day

60's sunshine-pop. Female vocal, electro-guitars, bass, drums.

[Verse 1] You left your blue scarf on the chair A little note beside it said, “Take care” I found a lemon in the bowl And your old joke still knows its role [Pre-Chorus] The kettle sings, the window swings I’m making room for brighter things [Chorus] Come on, day, come through the door I’ve got a little hope to spare We can start where we left off With the whole wide morning there Come on, day, stay awhile Put that smile back in the air [Verse 2] The neighbor’s radio hums next door A paper boat rests by the floor I pin your postcard to the wall And let the quiet lose its hold [Pre-Chorus] The kettle sings, the window swings I’m making room for brighter things [Chorus] Come on, day, come through the door I’ve got a little hope to spare We can start where we left off With the whole wide morning there Come on, day, stay awhile Put that smile back in the air [Bridge] If you come by, the gate is wide There’s tea enough for two inside No grand explanation needed now Just sit with me and tell me how [Final Chorus] Come on, day, come through the door I’ve got a little hope to spare We can start where we left off With the whole wide morning there Come on, day, stay awhile Put that smile back in the air [Outro] Stay awhile, stay awhile There’s a little hope to spare
